Black Zirconium Rings
Black is the new black. It’s what the coolest people wear, from Darthvader and Batman to Ninjas and now you. Zirconium is a natural element found in our earth, mostly in Australia and South Africa and it’s natural color is actually a grayish silvery white. Zirconium has a super high resistance to corrosion.
It is used in a lot of chemical industries where something is needed to contain or transport chemicals. It is so tough and chemically stable that it is also used to build nuclear reactors! Now that’s pretty manly if you ask me! Even though it is so tough it is also very lightweight.
Zirconium is non-toxic, so much so that it is often used in fillings and other dental work, therefore it is a great metal for those with allergies or sensitive skin.
Also, zirconium has a very high melting point of 1855 degrees celcius which makes it very durable. By comparison, gold has a melting point of 1064 degrees celcius. Not that you will probably ever want to melt your zirconium ring…
After the ring is milled then it goes through an oxidation process. The ring is heated to a very high temperature. The extreme heat causes a chemical reaction on the surface of the zirconium, and the result is a beautiful black color. This black layer is actually the oxidation that took place. The oxidation layer is extremely hard and the black color is permanent. It does not fade, tarnish, or change color.
As with any of our engagement and wedding rings we provide you with a lifetime guarantee.
